FAQs
Do I need to stay the whole 7 days (15.08.-22.08.)?
No. While we encourage you to stay and would love to have you for the full time, we understand that this doesn’t necessarily work with everyone’s schedules. We would love for all of our attending guests to at least be in Wiesbaden from August 16th (Welcome BBQ) to August 19th, as the wedding is on the 18th. Every other event is optional, and is designed for you to do as little planning while spending as much time with us as possible.
How much should I be budgeting?
These prices are subject to change and are an approximation based on inflation and exchange rates. The prices laid out are around the minimum one should expect to spend. This is to give people an estimate who are flying out of Toronto and staying the full 7 days and joining us for all activities.
Flight: €560-700/per person
Hotel, Business Category: €85/room required/day
Food: €30/day
Activities: €25/day
Total budget for a single person: €1,680 (approx. $2,700 CAD)
Please note if you are a family, that you wouldn’t be multiplying this by the number of people in your family per se. Many activities are free or cheap for children in Germany. Depending on the age of your children, they may join you in your room on an additional cot or get an additional double adjoining room for €85/night.
Which airport should I fly into?
The closest major airport is Frankfurt International (FRA), about 30 minutes by train or taxi from Wiesbaden.
When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving on Saturday, August 15th or Sunday, August 16th to join us for welcome festivities and have time to settle in before the wedding on the 18th.
How do I get to Wiesbaden from the airport?
The most convenient option is to take a direct train. Specifically, the S-Bahn lines S8 or S9 provide frequent service (every 15 minutes) from the airport's regional train station (located beneath Terminal 1) to Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof (main train station). The journey takes approximately 35-40 minutes. Taxis, Ubers, and car rentals are also available.
Where should I stay?
We've reserved a hotel block at the Intercity Hotel Wiesbaden from August 15–22.
More details and booking info on the “Travel” tab of this website.
Can I stay elsewhere?
Absolutely! Wiesbaden and nearby towns like Eltville and Mainz have lots of lovely options. But we’ll be organizing most group meetups from the InterCityHotel so it makes the most sense to stay local.
What events are happening during the week? Do I need to attend all of them?
We’ve planned a full week of festivities, but everything outside the wedding day and welcome BBQ is optional!
Come to as many or as few as you'd like. The events are:
Aug 15 – Unwind & casual wine fest meet up
Aug 16 – Welcome BBQ
Aug 17 – Wiesbaden inner city tour
Aug 18 – Wedding ceremony & reception
Aug 19 – Free/recovery day
Aug 20 – Rhine River cruise
Aug 21 – Casual farewell night
Full itinerary available on the front page of this website.
Can I bring a plus one or my kids?
As much as we’d love to invite all of your children and partners, due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those named on the invitation. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out.
What should I wear to the ceremony and reception?
The dress code is black tie / fancy garden party / cocktail attire. Please wear shoes that are suitable for gravel, cobblestone, and grass.
How will transportation work on the wedding day?
We’ll provide details closer to the date, but likely a mix of shuttle service and ride-sharing. The ceremony and reception are about a 10-minute drive apart.
Will the ceremony or reception be indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony is indoors in a beautiful historic basilica; the reception will be partially outdoors (weather permitting) with indoor space available.
What’s the Rheingau Wine Festival? Can we go?
Yes! It’s a wine-lover’s dream in downtown Wiesbaden, running during our wedding week. Feel free to come sip with us before and after the wedding!
Are meals provided during the week?
We’ll be providing food at the welcome BBQ, and wedding reception. Other meals are up to you. Wiesbaden is full of great spots to explore!
Will there be a wedding registry?
Your presence is our gift. If you still feel inclined to gift us something, you can support our Honeymoon Fund with a monetary gift.
What language is spoken locally? Will I survive if I don’t speak German?
German is the main language, but most people speak English, especially in hospitality. You’ll be totally fine, and if you need help, Alice’s nuclear family is fluent in German.
How’s the weather in August?
Expect warm, sunny days (~24–30°C / 75–86°F) and cooler evenings. A light jacket and comfy shoes are encouraged!
Can I make this a vacation?
Yes, please do! Wiesbaden is nestled in the Rheingau wine region, surrounded by vineyards, castles, historic towns, and easy train access to Frankfurt, Mainz, and even Cologne or Heidelberg for day trips.
We’ve designed the week to be flexible, so you can mix in sightseeing, wine tastings, spa days, or even extend your trip before or after the wedding to see more of Europe.
